There are several ways to add components to your water system.

Add a New Component

  1. Click the New Component button in the upper right-hand corner of the page to open the dropdown menu different component types.
  2. Select the component you wish to add.
  3. Fill in the component information in the pop-up box.

Required Fields

Required fields are in bold and have red stars. All components have at least three required fields.

  1. Water flows from indicates what the component is connected to. This determines where the component should appear in the diagram. You can choose from the existing components and water sources in the diagram. For the first component you add, this is the only connecting field that will matter.
    • Water flows to is not required but functions in the same way. Both the Water flows from and Water flows to fields allow you to choose from components currently in the system. LegiMapper uses this data to automatically draw connections between components in your diagram.
  2. Water type allows you to choose from cold, hot, or non-potable water.
  3. Component name defaults to the name of the component type. Renaming them as specifically as possible to keep track of numerous components of the same type.
  4. For some components there is a fourth required field for to indicate whether it is a control location. The dropdown allows you to chose yes, no, and I don’t know.
    • When you hover your cursor over the Is this component a control location? text, an explanation appears with details on if such a component is commonly used as a control location and why is may or may not be.
  5. Additional optional fields enable to add as much detail to your diagram and report as possible.
  6. After filling all required fields and as many optional fields, click Save.

Adding Components Before and After

You can add components directly before and after an existing component.

  1. Click the hamburger menu in the upper right corner of the existing component.
  2. From the dropdown, select Add component before or Add component after.
  3. Select the type of component you are adding.
  4. Add in all required and optional information as described above. The Water flows to or Water flows from fields appear automatically based on the component you selected to add the new component before or after.
